Resources will be made available (meeting, file, and storage space), library resources, web space, LPIRG staff and volunteer support, list-serve and action network, as well as equipment (PA system, button maker, laptop). LPIRG working groups operate at arms length from the LPIRG Board of Directors, and are encouraged to pursue events, ideas and actions to raise awareness and make change.

Working Groups are collectives of students (and possibly community members) who work together on a public interest issue and have long-term goals. Groups may focus on research, events, action, publications, or other activities. If you are interested in forming your own action group, swing by the office and let's chat.

Benefits to becoming a working group include:

  • funding, administrative, and organizational support from LPIRG
  • access to LPIRG office space for meetings and storage
  • public awareness raising through things like printing, button making, web space and email publicity
  • assistance with project organizing, including volunteer recruitment, training and planning
  • lots of love from LPIRG
